start children’s poem

Little joey was home alone one day
in the big house just around the bend
hed made one bad decision
now his hair stands on end
he was bored one afternoon
although books and games he had many\
when all of a sudden it came to him
he would play a game called hide the penny!
he looked all around for a hiding place
on the desk, the shelf and his pocket,
but he couldn’t think of anywhere
until he saw the light socket!
he slowly brought the penny over
carefully like he was handling a bomb
there was a great crash and also a flash
and he ran to find his mom
his mom yelled and screamed
like he was an escaped convict
he burned down his room but learned a lesson:
the light socket is no place to hide objects

why people are prejudiced
why people must move away
why people argue over stupid stuff
why there is war

What I understand most is
why trees grow
why birds chirp
why the suns shines
why the car goes.

Finish assignments from yesterday
~ write place poem - write two versions - one as sentences, then a revision with added description:
The mountaintop

I see clouds swirling around my feet
I see infinity stretching around me
I hear rustling winds
I hear an eagle’s lonely cry
I taste solitude
I taste joy
I touch the heavens
I touch fear
I feel freedom

The mountaintop

opaque clouds silently swirl around my feet like a cheshire cat
infinity softly stretches out around me
rustling winds whisper truths I cannot comprehend
an eagle’s lonely cry calls me to attention
the solitude offers me comfort no human voice could
intense joy ~ almost too much to bear
the earthbound heavens surround me
fear caresses me with a shiver
a word surfaces from the recesses of my mind: freedom
