DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI AWARD

It is time to nominate a North High School Distinguished Alumni. Go to North’s website, complete a nomination form, and send it to Principal Nelson. The deadline is March 26.

TODAY:

SAINT PATRICK’S DAY DANCE: Is THIS EVENING! Reserve your spot for the dance on Friday, March 19. Tickets are being sold before and after school in room 320 and during lunches on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Tickets are $8.00. The dance will take place on Harriet Island with the Paddleford Board Company. There will be professional pictures available for purchase. Directions to Harriet Island can be found in room 320 and in the Activities office.

SENIOR PARTY TICKET SALES: Will take place TODAY, March 19, and next Friday, March 26, in the cafeteria during all lunches. Send a check or cash for $75.00 payable to North High Graduation Committee.

THIS WEEKEND:

PREPARE FOR THE ACT COLLEGE ENTRANCE TEST: Attend this 5-hour prep workshop at Tartan High School on Sunday, March 21, from 12:30 – 6:00 p.m. (includes a break). Students receive a study guide and practice worksheets. ZAPS teachers are experts in helping students learn strategies for taking the ACT test. The cost is only $85. Register with Community Education at communityeducation.isd622.org. Stop at the Community Education Office at the District Education Center or call 651-748-7445 with questions.

ATTENTION BOYS TRACK & FIELD: The boys’ track & field team is still taking athletes. Please see Coach Wallert in the weight room with any questions. All 9 -12 grade boys are welcome. No experience needed.

ATTENTION AP GOVERNMENT STUDENTS: Review Sessions start Tuesday, March 22, at 7:00 a.m. Review sessions every Tuesday in RM 215 except during Spring break.

GOLDEN PROM: Please support Golden Prom by participating in Hat Day March 26. You may purchase a wristband before or after school with Ms. Powers in room 102 or during your lunches March 22-25. The wrist band costs a dollar and you get to wear a hat on Friday all day!!!

FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES: Our next FCA Meeting will be Monday, March 22, at 7:00 p.m. in the North High Media Center. Contact Coach Wallert for details.

STILL LOOKING FOR CAR SEATS FOR INFANTS: The North High FACS Department is in great need of gently used infant car seat carriers. If you have one that you would be willing to donate, please contact Kate Liden at Kliden@isd622.org. Thank you.

ATTENTION SENIORS: It is time to consider representing your class as a senior speaker for Graduation. Speeches generally are 2 - 3 minutes in length reflecting your high school memories, things learned, career, hopes & dreams. Please sign up with Ms. McNamara in the Activities Office, try-outs are Wednesday, April 7, at 2:50 p.m. in the Forum.

1988 NORTH HIGH GRADUATION: Does anyone have a video copy of the 1988 North High Graduation? Our Principal, Mr. Nelson is looking for a video of this graduation. If you have a copy that you are willing to share, please e-mail Sylvia Neblett at sneblett@isd622.org or call 651-748-6045. Thank you.

SUMMER LIFEGURADING JOB: Be ready for a summer lifeguarding job. Earn your American Red Cross Lifeguard Certificate at Maplewood Middle School on the weekends of April 9-10 & April 17-18. Times vary each day. Course fee is $200. The class is sponsored by 622 Community Education. STUDENT COUNCIL APPLICATIONS FOR NEXT YEAR: (StuCo) is now accepting applications for next year’s council members. Pick up an application in room 320 from Ms. Olsen or see Ms. Zwirn in the Ed Center. Applications are DUE APRIL 7!!! No exceptions.

BOYS HOCKEY BANQUET: Will be held at Pinz Bowling Center on Sunday, April 11, from 7:00 p.m. -10:00 p.m. All players who will attend the banquet must contact Coach Diebel and confirm they will be attending the event.

MN EDUCATION FAIR: Wednesday, March 24, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Mahtomedi High School, representative from 80-90 regional colleges and universities, community colleges, technical colleges, military organizations, and specialty schools will be in attendance. SPRING DODGEBALL: Thursday, April 15, is our next night of dodgeball – pick up information, a waiver, and sign up your team with Ms. Olsen in room 320. Don’t miss the spring action!!

START THINKING ABOUT GOING TO FRANCE IN JUNE OF 2011: There will be a meeting for parents on Monday, March 22, at 6:30 p.m. in the North High Forum with Ms Cook. Save $125.00 by enrolling by April 1. Plus our group will get an additional $50.00 for each student who enrolls by April 1. The trip is open to students who will have completed French II.

FOOTBALL MEETING: There will be an informational meeting for next year’s freshmen and their parents regarding North High Football on Monday, March 22, at 7:00 p.m. in the North High School Forum. This is a repeat of the February 18, meeting, so if you went to that one, you do not need to attend. If your son is planning on playing football next year at North, or even if he is thinking about playing, it would be beneficial for you to get the high school football coach your contact information. This will ensure that you receive all necessary information for the football season. SWIMMING VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Volunteers are needed to help children with disabilities learn water readiness skills and basic swimming strokes. Classes are on Tuesdays for six weeks beginning April 13. There are two classes; one from 5:30 – 6:15 p.m. and another class from 6:15 – 7 p.m. Classes are held at John Glenn Middle School. No need to be a certified swimming instructor, just someone who likes children and the water. Call 651-748-7436 or e-mail psvendsen@isd622.org. A training for all volunteers is scheduled on Tuesday, April 6, from 6 – 7:45 p.m. at John Glenn. Bring a swim suit to the training.
