Cell Phone Policy

North High School is committed to an environment where all students can thrive. It has become clear that our students are struggling with the responsibilities that come with having a cell phone at school and navigating social media, messaging apps, gaming, TikTok, and more. These factors distract students from focusing on academics and building positive relationships with peers and adults. We are implementing these guidelines because we want to minimize distractions, give students a break from the pressures of social media, and most importantly, improve their social-emotional well-being and academic achievement.

Expectations:  Students may bring cellphones/electronic devices to school at their own risk. North High School is not responsible for any damaged, lost, or stolen phones/devices.  Cell phones/electronic devices, including airpods, MUST be turned off and put away in ALL learning spaces.

Cell phones are not allowed in these spaces:

  • Classrooms (including the gym)

  • Student Office Of Support (SOS)

  • Mentor offices

  • Drop Down Room

  • All flexible learning spaces

  • Locker rooms

Students are allowed to use their phones in the following APPROVED spaces:

  • Guidance office

  • Cafeteria

  • Media Center

  • Hallways (during passing time)

We are committed to an environment where all students can thrive and are confident these changes will positively impact the learning environment for your child.

Note: Earbuds, airpods, headphones and gaming devices all fall under this policy and should not be seen or used in the above mentioned learning spaces.
